Longtime supporters return for Board Alumni Party

On Friday, September 11th at the Mount Baker Theatre Encore Room we hosted a Board of Directors Alumni Party to re-engage former board members and re-open channels of communication and support to carry our mission forward into the future. Current board members brought an array of refreshments, and information on current activities was on hand.

Tim Shepherd, a board member for nine years, had helped with the project by putting together a master roster, which included digging through binders of minutes for the lists of people who had been involved since the mid-1970’s.  Former executive directors Wilma Totten and Rachel Myers were in attendance, and board alumni ranged from Jan Propowich (who’s name is on the Articles of Incorporation) to Kate Kershner, a board member who stepped down last month, who was there with her tiny baby Gus.There were many people we did not have contact information for, so we hope you can help us if you know someone who served on the board in years past.  Please encourage them to contact us so we can update the roster and stay in touch.

It is our hope that these people who have contributed so much to make the Whatcom Literacy Council what it is today can stay engaged with the organization.  If you have time to meet with the executive director to talk about ideas, invite your friends to events, or pledge to make a monthly donation- we need your help!  Please consider filling out the questionnaire, linked  below, so we know how you would like to stay involved.  Thanks!

If you know of board alumni who have not heard about our recent efforts to reconnect, please have them get in touch with us so that we can update their contact information on our roster.  There are still several gaps in our data that need to be filled.
