Grades Are In: The Whatcom Literacy Council’s 2017 Annual Report Card

Last year our goal was to deepen the impact of our free adult literacy programs. Working with over 100 volunteers we served 959 learners through our tutoring and small group classes, bringing neighbors together to help neighbors, creating social capital and a healthier community. We placed volunteers in classes at BTC, WCC, and Goodwill, and taught sessions at schools, churches, farms, and libraries. We partnered with businesses and other nonprofits as we set individuals on a course for good jobs with better wages. As always, the gifts given by our donors stayed right here in Whatcom County, addressing local needs.
